When it was brought home, there was nothing immediately impressive about it. The drawers stuck, parts were damaged, and the paint had been applied carelessly, hiding any hint of detail beneath it. He approached the project slowly, removing layers of paint by hand, repairing broken joints, and rebuilding missing sections piece by piece. There was no attempt to rush the process or force a result—only steady, deliberate work guided by curiosity and respect for the object itself.

As the restoration progressed, the table began to reveal its true character. Beneath the rough exterior was finely worked wood and balanced proportions that pointed to an Art Deco origin. The craftsmanship had been there all along, simply buried under neglect and haste from a previous era. Each step of the restoration honored that hidden history. The work was careful, methodical, and thoughtful, as though the table’s past mattered—even if it had once been treated as disposable. What emerged was not something new, but something restored to clarity.
