Through school, teachers observed that he was bright but unusually reserved. He struggled to make friends and often kept to himself. As time went on, this sense of isolation grew, and emotional challenges began to shape his personality in troubling ways. After finishing high school in 1978, his family separated, leaving him largely alone in the family home.
